I'm going salmon fishing in Oregon on Sunday, then heading to Colorado on Thursday for elk season on Saturday. Maybe I'll chunk a rock at a spruce grouse or something. :)

That sounds like fun, and the pheasant season doesn't open for 6 weeks so you aren't missing out anyway

I hope it cools of around here, I need to get the dog out after some more Prairie Chicken ..... well at least walk around looking for them

AMEN! A little moisture would be nice also... since we're wishing for stuff.

Good luck on the hunting trip. I hope you get a nice elk.

Where you going salmon fishing? Im from WA, and was out there last month fishing the Columbia river for kings between WA and OR. Fishing was pretty darn good this year. Im guessing your fishing Tillamook?

I know the reasoning for your guess, but won't make it to Tillamook. Ironically, my cousin has a dairy out there and sells to that creamery.

We'll be flying into Portland to visit an equipment manufacturer in Vancouver, the plan is to kill the day on Sunday with a guide there.

Good luck. The king fishing is wrapping up in that area but the silvers are pushing through pretty well depending on the tributary..

If you don't know how to cook that nasty old salmon, ship some of it to Dodge and can do it. :)

Man, I could use some of my late brother's smoked salmon right now. Oh, it was so good.

Now, my wife, she prefers beer battered deep fat fried halibut.

My brother always picked up Tillamook Cheese when he traveled that way. Good stuff.

Sounds like a good time. Enjoy.

I'll give you $1.00 per lb and agree to pay shipping to me- for all the wild Salmon you can catch- my brother stopped sending me Salmon quite a few years ago- quote "come up here and catch them with me"

What unit/sex is your elk tag for? Supposed to get some snow tonight and tomorrow up in the mountains here which should get the animals started moving some before next weekend's opener.

When I was stationed up in Anchorage, AK at Elmendorf I used to catch Kings, Slivers, and Reds and then go get some Halibut. I loved smoked red salmon (sockeyes) and grilled or baked King or silvers.

And the deep fried halibut in beer batter is the best...

Just be ready for snow here in Colorado. Wolf Creek pass got 3ft this past weekend and it was snowing here in Colorado Springs on Saturday...we got about 3 inches...Pikes Peak is covered...good luck!

See if you can catch some steelies!! Those are fun!

Greg
