No roosters were had but plenty of dog work on quite a few hens. Hopefully that bodes well for next year.

Second WIA field of the morning erupted like pop-corn after only a couple steps into waist deep grass driving my two dogs crazy. Just emerging into my sight is my ten month old GSP, nipping on the tail feathers of a rooster and four hens just in front of him taking flight. A little far out and a couple shots the rooster does his best Top Gun inversion trick, resets himself and carries on like any other Thursday. Head scratcher for sure. One more roster got up out of reach at the end of the field and few hens held fairly close for sniffing purposes.

Bumped some hens in a few more spots and called it a short day and the end of our season. Five year old Lab and a promising young Shorthair have me eager for next year!
