The food plots are getting hammered now.

It sounds like most everyone in the upper midwest has snow cover and more coming now. This is when the food plots you plant can really make a difference. It is pretty early for the birds to need to rely on them, but I hope they last the winter, I am doubtful they will.

A few days of full sun and 30* temps can change things in a hurry. At least it isn't sub zero temps...yet.

Right you are! Went hunting for the first time after all the snow and the bird food plot was hammered with tracks and birds.

I thought it was interesting with the Pheasant Fact Friday from yesterday that you posted. PF usually kind of downplays the importance of food in winter - emphasizing that birds can scratch for leftover grain in fields and to really not worry about food in winter for birds. They can go days without eating etc. That post was the first I’ve seen of them placing some importance of standing food for birds which is great.
