6o years in the field still get my miles in behind my current 4 dogs, 2 GSP, 1 springer, one Chesapeake. Springer from Minnesota, one GSP from Iowa, one GSP from unknown origins, and a local Chesapeake.
I manage 9000 acres of Gulf Coast habitat for upland game and waterfowl as best I can between farming and ranching operations ( not easy).
Parks and wildlife tried to get ring necks established on the Gulf Coast in the 40’s and 50’s and they didn’t stick but we did chase some roosters around between quail and waterfowl hunts in the 60’s.
I’ve hunted pheasant in N Texas ND, SD and the Gulf Coast mostly released pen raised birds..
I’ve successfully reintroduced northern bob whites on the property albeit marginally and release 300- 500 pheasant annually and root for some wild spring pheasant orgies that will produce off spring…. No joy as yet after 6 years. But I do get some dog work on these birds which is my main pursuit.
I came to this forum via an internet search seeking information and found some threads I may be helpful on. Like the guy trying to get pheasant established on 40 acres, or the old dog problem. Anyhoo that’s me !

Pine Shadows in Brainerd, I picked him up at a lodge they run in ND he was a started dog. I had (and still do) have some running bobs on some country in the rolling plains TX I lease….. he was/ is the cure….kinda works, birds hold up for the pointers after he busts em up and scatters them about a bit.
He still loves to pheasant hunt and is get him into some 3-4 times a year…

My springer Ace was from Pine Shadows. Nice people.

Morgan and his dad are good people. Bauer has been a peach but can’t stand my chessie…9 years and they haven’t sorted it out yet…. Intact males and all that plus just the regular springer male intolerance of the other boys

Our Ace had an intolerance of raccoons. I never checked to see if they were males. :) He was fixed though.
