Thought I would look for new WIHAs closer to Missouri. Drove around and all areas were grazed like my lawn. Finally found a property line with a little cover. Quail flushes. Dogs start pointing what appeared to be old scent. Made a short circle and on the way back, dog acts like another flushed.
Drove around more. All areas no cover. Stopped at a state wildlife area. Within thirty minutes, Astro indicated my shorthair was on point. When I reached him, he was backing my 14 year old britt, Sue. Wonderful sight. Big covey gets up.
They flew into an area that was hard to hunt. Called it a day with a memory that will last a lifetime and a lot of hope for next year.
