Teal Time Best Shots Video

With a little more than a month to go before we start our September teal season in SE Louisiana I put together some of the best video shots over the last several years. Teal are a blast to hunt and can't wait for the action to start. I know its not pheasant hunting but some of you may have an interest.

Nice call, A5 Sweat 16. I was thinking these were the same crusty old farts I seen drinking in the blind. They showed a little more class but seem pretty exited to be shooting a bunch of dumb teel.

Us "old crusty farts" sure do have lot of fun doing what we do out in the marsh. We are fortunate to be hunting with family and good friends in one of the richest river deltas on the planet with an abundance of wildlife. I can only hope you have the same amount of fun hunting pheasant. Happy hunting and good luck.

It was neat to see, DD, but got me wondering if you had a skiff to get the ducks, or retrievers to work the deltas. Just marking the birds would be a full-time job.

My great teal adventure involved two hunters, my old car, his year-old 4x4 extended cab pickup, my 1933 Winchester 97, his Browning something or other, and an $800 canoe, with two GWPs going down the crookedest small river in WI.
We got one teal and figured out. Great time, but a rough estimation was that we (mostly him) had invested not-quite $50,0000 for 6 ounces of duck.

We were quite proud of ourselves; feeding our families and such.
:)

Enjoyed your video DD. The sound of a flock of teal buzzing the blind is amazing. Some claim they are the best eating duck, and I won’t argue.
A few years ago in Alberta we were set up to pass shoot teal, had to be close to 800-1000 pass thru a flooded creek bottom. A wing shooters dream, and we sure enjoyed the fine meal they provided. Haven’t had a teal hunt like that for years. Great fun. Best of luck this season, & be safe -just a few weeks away now!

Due to the amounts of alligators in the marsh we are not able to use dogs to retrieve ducks. It is lousy with them here. There are occasions alligators get our ducks before we can get to them. We typically have a surface drive boat right behind our duck blind. When we knock the ducks down we crank it up and go get them. On occasion we use a pirogue and paddle to get them. It is hard finding teal that fall in the marsh but with a little time we get them. We try to shoot the ducks over the water to make it easier for us.

When it comes to wing shooting when 15 to 20 teal pass by your pond and all of them make a what seems like a synchronized bank turn to come over the decoys it is fine to watch and be a part of. The Blue Angels could learn something from teal. It's all good and fun to do.
