talk me into a gun

id like to stay around $2500-$3k max.
I have years of experience with multiple guns.
I actually use to have a Browning Citori white lightening and im still kicking myself for selling it.

I like Benelli for its reliability and customization. My double and my auto have a carbon fiber rail, and you can get an ultra high rail for it. That plus their stock adjustability should cover most shooters needs.

Benallie's are nice but I can't say I like that futuristic look. My buddy has one I call it the space gun. Browning's are a bit bulkier but bullet proof. The Beretta's are close to perfect for me. Slim trim and deadly.

In that price range you open up many possibilities. First question would be what gauge? If anything other than 16 my personal preference is Beretta. They typically fit me really well as they are built and feel like overall a good value. Another option would be CG. I’ve not owned one but they a strong following and customer support is very good I am told. If you are looking at 16 gauge then Beretta is out but there are many options out there for that. I went Rizzini and no regrets. Upland gun company is another option To look at.

I have no issue with the looks of the Benelli but have been told they kick pretty well. Would recommend finding a place you could shoot one prior to purchase.

Good luck and make sure to let us know where you end up on this.

The other question is what % skeet and what % pheasant? I got my son a Browning Cynergy CX for trap and he wanted to take it pheasant hunting. That thing is like carrying a railroad tie around the pheasant fields. Great trap gun. I even like shooting it for trap. After 2 days of hunting he was like hey dad, let me carry your Benelli (Legacy 20 ga) in the next field. After that walk, he didn’t want to give it back. I had told him to bring my Franchi 48 AL 20 ga and he wouldn’t do it. I bet he doesn’t shoot that Browning in the field again.

Benelli O/Us are nice but very light. Most people I know that have one in 12 ga are not fond of the recoil. But that’s all subjective. I really like Beretta O/Us. I have a silver pigeon but there are some nice options in your price range.

Now, if you’re not interested in brand spanking new there is always a Marlin Model 90 with double triggers (the more I shoot my O/U and SxS with double triggers the more I like them), or a Ruger Red Label. Lots of nice options.

No, actually I don't have hardly any experience with any of the auto's post 90's. But I do hear they've come a long way. I had to google the a400 to see what it was.
