i am looking to swap for a GOOD bird hunt. i have successfuly hunted most western states for deer elk antelope bighorn sheep mtn goats moose bears lions etc.....look at my pics in my profile to see some of the game i have taken.

What kind of bird hunt are you looking for? Can't say I'm interested in hunting any big game but if you ever found yourself out this way I'm sure I could put together a nice quail hunt for you.

I have excellent bird hunting , pheasant, grouse and huns here in northeast Montana, but the season ends on the 1st of Jan.. I have place(s) for a couple or so guys and couple of dogs. Are you offering hunt swap in Utah? If so what are you offering, i.e. area, game, lodging? I have been fortunate to hunt with quite a few people and always enjoy meeting new friends, I have hosted hunters from the DU chapter for bird hunting and a wide variety of others , I am not a guide, just someone that enjoys the chance to get out and hunt a few birds. I hunt almost exclusively private ground and have some of the best wild bird hunting in the states I would bet. Let me know if your interested and what you are thinking! Thanks!

i am open to suggestions....there is only a couple options that are over the counter. idaho deer and colorado elk.also leftover tags in wyo and Ut for deer elk and antelope. also for those interested i can give them the draw units i have hunted if they want to try the draws ( best choice )...i have hounds so a lion or bear hunt is possible for a hunter with the right mindset.

I've followed a pack of hounds over miles and miles of rough high country to a treed bear, great fun. It's a shame we won't hear the hounds music anymore in the mountains.

Wish I had some birds to trade, but not this year. Also wish my body wasn't used up. I do want to get in elk camp again, this time with both my sons.

Awesome hunts you have had.

Maynard, i have been fortunate to have had a few good hunts....still trying to get the rest of them from film to my computer, i have a bunch i want to preserve....i have abuddy who has hunted the dodge area and always said it was good.....his father in law (now past away) was the orthodontist in dodge for alot of years, i believe his name was Drydon...

quail hound, wht won't we hear the hounds music anymore

California said no more. I have friends who have hounds and I'd just buy a tag and go along so they could put an extra dog on the ground (one dog per tag during deer season).

Dr. Richard Dryden was a prince of a man. Never needed his services, but some in the family did and all spoke highly of him. He would always wave as he went by my house on his way to his office in the First National Bank Building downtown(the one with the mural painted by Stan Herd).

Hey montana i would really be interested in a wild bird hunt out there ive never hunted huns orgrouse and after my buddies stuggled at south dakota and read a few of the forums stories hunting montana could you lead me in the right direction possibly? PM me if you would like thanks bryan

Pointer, I would head between Dagmar and Westby in ne Montana for huns and grouse with pheasants there too. I would put that up against any area in the country for an all around upland hunters paradise. Lodging is tough with all the oil field activity in the area and permission is starting to get tougher due to the idiots the oil brings with it. There is quite a bit of block management in the area, but I can't help you there, I rarely hunt state or block land. The season closes week from today. Good luck! Talked to one of my buddies in Med Lake and his brother-in-law took some of the kids out for a Xmas day shoot, buddy said they knocked the S*** out of them this morning.

Montana Husker - I have a friend from Plentywood/Westby who also lives in San Diego and arranged for me to stay with one of his old friends in that area around the end of October. We had a great visit and pretty good hunting. The sharptail flushed wild and out of range and the Huns were kind of hard to find. The roosters were in the shelter belts around old abandoned homesteads and it was a thrill to jump whitetails from time to time.

Really enjoyed our visit before heading down to southwest ND and then home after two weeks and nearly 5,000 miles.
