SW ND Land Access

I am planning a self guided hunt in Mott ND this fall, and I was wondering if anyone can provide any advice on how to identify land owners who are willing to provide hunting access (for a fee)?

I take it you'll need a place to stay as well.?

You might check out the Tailfeather Inn in Mott. I have no experience with them but they provide lodging and information on land access for guided or unguided hunts. http://www.tailfeatherinn.com/

The Cannonball company is a big outfit..

There are plenty of landowners in the Mott/Regent area that will charge a daily trespass fee for hunting, just have to find out who and where they are. Lots of options, just depends on how much you want to spend. You could try Mott chamber of commerce?

all else fails, Google is your friend.

Almost all the decent bird habitat around Regent is lease up. (Regent is just down the road West of Mott)

Google Regent ND pheasant hunting. No trouble finding a pay to hunt operation.

Lots of pheasants and they make sure thee is a supply of roosters for late season hunters.:)

Same question but looking at areas southeast of Bismark

This is my first post, I am very happy this site is here! I have never hunted "wild born pheasant". In Ohio the birds about 90% pen raised and released by ODNR 3 times a hunting season, all on public land as well. This means that anytime birds are available there are several groups of hunters walking the same fields to try to get them coming from different directions and often shooting towards you. My hope is that the PLOTS lands and the trespass pay areas are free of other hunters. Is it typically hard to find an area you can be the only group in the field there?

Here's a possibility: google "Platland Maps." These maps ($30) will indicate land owners and give good detail to the county you wish to hunt. I've used them for over 20 years and they are invaluable if you are unfamiliar with the area. They show maps for the bottom two tiers of counties in North Dakota.

They should list phone numbers to the land owner as well.

Good Luck to you.

If you google:Mott,ND pheasant hunting, you'll find a City of Mott site. They appear to offer plat maps from some of their local stores.

I doubt if the State of SD has this kind of map, with this level of detail. When I was hunting Faulk county, (SD). I checked with the county seat and they gave me a map book of the county - very helpful!

If you can't locate the "city site" I suggest you call the city clerk, Hettinger County, for info on maps.
