Sunday pheasant phun!

Since there are no hunters out on Sunday I took the dogs for a run. It didn't take them long to find some birds in the switchgrass. The day ended with a few points and 4 hens flushed.

The first pair of birds were running down a mowed path through the grass:

The other birds were found in a different area of the grass and held better:

Enjoy the pictures. Only one week left and then we can start the late season. Hopefully some grouse are in my future.

Is that public or private land you were on. And would I be allowed to take my dogs out on a SGL on a Sunday not to hunt but to let the dogs run around ?

It was on land in the co-op program.

I would think you could go to a sgl on a Sunday. Is there any type of predator hunting on Sunday? Not sure if anybody would be out or not.

Love your bird pics. Waiting for deer season to get done. Looking forward to the winter bird season. I hope the snow keeps to a minimum.
