Below is a link to todays story in the Strib with readers comments about how to improve pheasants in MN.

A few suggested rearing and stocking pheasants-I guess if the habitat isn't there why bother-I mean years ago they did that at Carlos Avery, the pheasant pens were out front where you could see them.

Mowing and buffer strips-reserve areas not being maintained to specs was brought up as well as whats happening to the water and pollinators.

Agree with many of the comments. I?ll add that many of the public areas have very poor habitat. The NWSG mixes they are using must be chosen based on cost and not what?s best depending on soil and habitat needs.

I?m in Ottertail County and much of the grass planting include a high percentage of Dakota switch which I see as poor quality cover for pheasants.
