St. Francis deer hunting?

Yes, I know this is a Pheasant Hunting forum, but I thought I would take a swing for the fences and see if any of you have been pheasant hunting in the St. Francis area this year and saw some deer. I will be heading out there this weekend for one last hoorah before the rifle season ends. It is killing me to leave the dogs home, but I will have a shotgun, just in case....
I typically do not go any further west on 36 than Smith Center, so this is all new to me so any suggestions on starting points would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

White tails or mulies?

I am bringing my son, he has a whitetail tag, I have a muley tag. If we find one that would be great, if not, I spent the weekend hunting with my son.

You'll find deer -- just get the hell out of the truck and away from the road. A lot of people just road hunt and can't walk. The smart ones will be where you least expect them and probably bigger ones out in the grass or a patch of weeds with a good vantage point, fence line etc. The big boys know the drill once that first rifle shot(s) went off last Wednesday.

Good luck!

Thanks! We are planning on hitting some of the bigger WIHAs to hopefully get away from the roads far enough
