Spurs or Tail

Which one would you base mounting a bird on? I'm thinking spurs since a year old bird can have long feathers. Its takes a while to get a good set of spurs.

What length spurs would you determine mount-worthy?

I mounted a bird about 5 years ago with about 7/8" long spurs. Tail was about 28" roughly.

Yea big spurs and over all color, you can always stuff in a longer tail

I'm not sure what I would consider trophy spurs? I would thnk 3/4" or better?

I have an Iowa rooster with almost one inch in length spurs. They measure 15/16 of an inch. Tail feather is only 23".

None of the above. The birds I mount are the ones that have a story, like a great retrieve, bird I shot with my son, a bird from an all around great hunt.
