spring turkey hunting

A small group of buddies and I from Arkansas traveled to KS last year to spring turkey hunt. We hunted public land around El Dorado and Milford, and private land around Herrington. We had some success and really enjoyed the trip. We are planning on coming back this spring and are hoping to find some private land that we can hunt. Can anyone help?

Buy some plat maps (landowner maps) for the counties you want to hunt and knock on some doors. You can buy them by mail from the county clerks or appraiser office - you'll just have to include a return envelope and the postage. Most of them will cost $25-35. Most farmers dont like turkeys. Especially ones with beans planted. They do a lot of damage.

I am up in Smith County and alot of farmers will let you hunt, as long as you are polite and follow rules. By rules i mean no shooting around cattle...big no no. But a lot of people will let you hunt

These guys are right. Getting permission to hunt turkeys is relatively easy. Some people won't let you on until their family is done for the season. Most folks say something like, "If you shoot 1, shoot 6." Turkeys are not popular with the farmers.
