Spraying fescue in NWSG

Went out today to check on some areas that I need to spot spray and I've still got some side oats that has some green still in it. I know that once it goes dormant it wont brown out overnight but I just dont want to take the chance and kill some of my side oats along with the fescue. Does the NWSG trigger off of the amount of daylight or soil temps to send it into the dormant stage? I'd really like to get these areas sprayed but it is a bit windy today and then its supposed to really cool off tonight and start raining into tomorrow, then warm up again up into the mid 60's by the weekend. Spray now or wait till after this bit of rain and then hit it when its in the 60's or wait even longer to make sure the NWSG is dormant?

Jaytee, I guess the answer depends upon what you intend to spray it with. If you are just using Plateau, then you can spray it even when the native is still green. If you're going to use something with Glyphosate in it, I'd make very sure that the native has gone dormant.

Troy its gonna be RU that I spray. Are you still seeing any NWSG thats not gone dormant yet? I'd really like to get this fescue killed soon before it gets too cold for it to be growing but I may have another month or so. I've seen it plenty green up into December but just 'cause its green doesn't mean that its still growing or putting in root stores does it?

I was out with KDOT and Cox cable today setting right-of-way markers for the highway project and saw a lot still green. I'm sure we've frosted much harder than you have at this point. I would like to spray some as well, but I wouldn't think of it yet. Topography, timber cover, etc has so much to do with how the frost settles. It'll take some low 20's to get it done right.

I think I'll hold off for a while yet. Might go ahead and spray into some areas that I'm gonna drop some trees for covey headquarters areas though.
