Talked to a farmer friend who farms south of the Lake and he told me he saw very little birds so I called the conservation agent for that Region and he said that area missed most of the rains in July and August which hurt the overall populations. He said west of Hill City would be better to hunt for pheasants. I luckily have a few areas of private land in that area.
