South Dakota

Get a state hunting land map. Match that up with the roadside count map that can be found on the SD G&F website. I would look for the place with the highest bird density and most avalible public land. I was out there a few weeks ago we hunted both public and private. Private was great ( always is). Public land was decent ( much better than MN) We go near Mitchell and there was a lot of water and a lot of the min. maintenance roads are pretty rough right now. Good luck its a great time

great question
I assume you're gone already
I hope you've done some homework in planning your trip

what were you hoping to read?

@UplandHntr - LMAO, "What were you hoping to read?"...Last-Minute "Exact Coordinates" = BR-549 - best spot in all of SD, IF he can find it...Hee-Haw!!! :p

This is the 2nd or 3rd totally-undisguised thread on UPH lately (last moment be4 hunting season)...Did these guys ever do their own HOMEWORK in school when they were kids, or were they the ones copying over everybody else's shoulder???

I was gonna post a smart a$$ answer, "on the cut corn fields" but didn't want to be thought of a snarky. We researched for 5 months before heading out for our 1st SD trip this year. It paid off handsomely.
Luck favors the prepared.
That being said, I hope he did ok.
