Some Great News!

There are some really good things happening in Pa.. Last year we were pretty excited when we flushed 80 WILD birds out of one 45 acre field. Well this year they flushed 173 WILD birds out of this same 45 acre field. Other areas seem to be having very good results as well. When all the numbers are in I will post them. But I think this shows what can be done with hard work. Keep in mind this is the work of just a FEW individuals. Special thanks to Mr. Lynn Appleman, Mr. Shon Robbins, Ms. Colleen DeLong, and the PGC!

This is great news. I think once other farms get re-planted to resemble that one 45 acre field that things will really take off. I was suposed to help with this survey but a sick family changed things. I will be up next weekend to help with that survey.

I look forward to hearing the spring crowing count numbers.

I was happy with the totals last year, I think this year will knock it out of the park! It's a little strange...these birds prefer habitat that really didn't exist in Pa's heyday. It makes me wonder if it's because of where they are from. Anyway, there are plenty of WILD hens getting ready to nest AGAIN, pretty exciting!

There are Wild Pheasant Recovery Areas being set up throughout the state. This particular one is located in the Central Susquehanna Area! If you click on the link below it will give you the exact location. Just go to Home.
