So-Cal upland guy

Just found this site. Man, this is the type of site I've been looking for. As I do not hunt deer or elk much any longer, I've gone back to my favorite type of shooting: Upland birds. Probably my favorite is Chukar chasing. But, I think I can find all the upland info I need right here. Thanks for letting me in here.

Welcome to UPH! How far south are you? I'm up in Madera but I hunt the whole state, been a few years since I've been down to the Mojave preserve but I sure love it down there.

quail hound,
I'm down around Diamond Bar/West Covina. I've pretty much just re-kick started my upland bird hunting[chasing] this season. Was up in the Owens Valley for dove. Did better than expected. Don't hunt deer and such any more, just going after those birds. Really like going after Chukar.

I see. We got into a few chukar out near Hole in the Wall. Do you subscribe to Western Birds? Tons of good SoCal info in there.

I'll have to look into Western Birds. Sounds promising. Usually I go around Red Mtn. or Kelso Valley, south of Lake Isabella for Chukar. Man, I'll tell ya; carrying a couple of 1lb birds is waaay easier than dragging a downed deer!.
