Below is the statement about this pup by his foster mom Ellen

Amadeus is a 2.5 year old, neutered male, roan. His owner passed away very unexpectedly and he now needs a new family. This loss has affected Amadeus and he has certainly been mourning the loss of his best friend. He had been with this owner since he was 8 weeks old and came to the US from Germany. Amadeus is a very sweet and loving dog but is initially wary of strangers. Once he gets to know you, he will be your best friend. He wants to be included in all parts of your life and is not happy being left alone too long. He is a very sensitive dog that does best with positive reinforcement. He is very food motivated which makes things easy.

He loves to play ball and frisbee. He gets along with other dogs very well. What he really enjoys is getting other dogs to chase him and then outrunning them! As far as toys go, he does best with durable ones, stuffed toys are quickly gutted and torn apart. That is his puppy side coming out. Amadeus has been to 3 basic obedience classes and definitely knows all of his commands. He walks well on a leash and heels on command. He is housebroken and was not crated while home alone. He can be crated but will shred any bedding in a crate. He does not tear up his bed any other time. Amadeus is good with cats who are not afraid of dogs. If a cat is scared or runs, he thinks the game is on. He would do best with children over 8 years old given his fear of strangers. He will also need an owner that is aware of this fear and continue to work with Amadeus to get over his fears. He has already come a long way in his foster home. He is learning not to be scared of strangers and is meeting lots of new people. If you think that Amadeus would be a good fit as your next family member please fill out an application at http://www.ohioenglishsetterrescue.org

I just want to add that there is no indication that this guy has ever been hunting. But I am pretty sure in the right hands he will come along. But it is more important to get this guy in a good home ASAP.
