Shells for a 48 sportsman?

I am considering heading to Kansas this year for a pheasant/quail hunt. I have an old remington 48 sportsman 12 ga imp cyl that I have used for yrs. Would this gun be ok?

If so what shells should I try?

I read where some areas require steel shot?

I hunted with my buddy Joe today and thats all he uses (model 48). He shoots HIGH BRASS 5s. He bagged 3 pheasant and a chucker.

What about steel shot?

Where you located in Ohio bob? I'm from ky and work a lot in OH. I'm headed there in the morning.

My buddy Joe is from Bellevue Ky.
I am from Southgate
