.....Out mowing and spraying at the farm and I am seeing more pheasant broods here and there. Chicks getting bigger that is for sure. Still hard to say how many are "out there"......

the crops are catching up with all the heat. Incredible amount of standing water still around though too.

I took several trips betweens farms last week and it is about a 6 mile drive each way. I was seeing new pheasants on every trip. On last trip I came up to a crossroad and the was a flush of new birds that resembled a covey of qail due to number of birds in it. It was pheasants of course but number of birds had to be close to 15 that flushed and I thought there must have been two broods together but who knows. I was exciting no less.

Nice to see, unfortunately, I may have ran a good # of mine off for this year. There is still some cover so they may stick around. Thats why I waited, so they could nest. there was quite a few that I saw in the new dug up ground a couple weeks ago. They have had a superb year here for nesting. Too bad about all the water in some of those areas. Hope we dodge the storms they are calling for tomorrow.

Talked to hunting buddy this morning. He checked our patch this week and reports chicks ranging from barely able to fly to some almost as large as an adult hen, encouraging!
