You folks that live in SD Give us your take on numbers as of today - especially anyone near Platte, New Holland, and Corsica. My folks there tell me that numbers are better than last year but I know that varies from mile to mile - literally so what say you?

My own SD forecast: Better'n everywhere else. :D

Hate to say it but numbers very a lot based on where the habitat is. Parts of our County have a lot to very view birds based on habitat. CRP and sloughs will always lead you to more birds. The farmers that have tiled the land and taken out the fence rows, don't expect many birds. We have good cover and crp by our place and the birds are numerous and there was a good hatch. viking

You might check the SD Game Fish Park roadside survey - usually printed in late August. Might give you some idea about bird count, in areas of interest.

Habitat = birds plain and simple--lots and lots of corn and it all looks good--so till they harvest corn hunting will be hard. Have seen lots of birds in the New Holland area but I seem to go thru there early morning or just before sunset.:D
