Nephew and I south of Winner, SD. We saw one vehicle from Oregon!

40 mph winds on day one - 4 in the bag

10" of snow on day two. Birds held, limit by 1:00. Tough going!

Very cold on day three, limit by 3:00.

Epilogue: Birds were near corn, in tree groves and held. Most of the birds were very young and seemed as though they had not been hunted. 95% of the birds we flushed were roosters.

Fortunately I installed new M&S tires in October and had fantastic traction in the fields and unimproved roads. A heavy truck (Yukon) worked well...

Wind

Good job in the wind and snow. I hunted until noon on Tues. and stayed in house until Thurs. I had a hard time walking from the house to the truck. The birds were really out on Friday morning, tho. Not sure, but maybe because they were so hunkered down for two days. I am just packing up from a ten day hunt. Other than the two wind days, the weather was the best I've ever had. It was almost too warm first two days. It was really dry where I hunted. I like to hunt in wet weather because my dog does better, but I only had one damp day. Glad you had a good hunt.
