Scouting Observations

Went out this past Saturday morning to do some scouting for opener, weather was perfect heavy dew no wind and sunny. Got to the first field we had planned for opening morning at first light, and I was met with the sweet sound of roosters cackling everywhere. This piece of public isn't huge, maybe 100 acres. Easily saw 20-30 roosters and heard numerous others, the private ground across the road behind a pasture was also loaded, birds cackling and flying everywhere. Also saw a couple broods on the road that were probable mid-august hatch. Things are looking great for the opener. Crops I would say are still 7-10 days from beans starting and corn will be another week or two after that as it's still pretty green. Due to the late opener, I would guess all the beans and most of the corn will be out by the end of October.
