Wife let me hunt the morning of her birthday with my 11 month old Vizsla Olive. Got out for 2 hours found some birds. First covey was pretty good size at an est 20 birds. Shot 1 on the rise and 2 singles.
I thought that was the only covey at the first spot and we were just about to the end of the cover and the dog goes on point. I was stomping around with nothing coming up, thinking she was a liar. I turned off my GoPro and 3 steps later a dozen birds come up. I pull the trigger and all hell breaks loose with the biggest covey I've ever seen getting up in front of me. A legit 40-50 bird covey scattered all over the place down the tree row. Shot 1 bird on the covey rise and finished a limit, but was only able to recover 7 birds. Lost 1 in some tall cover. She was on fire that day nailing single after single. Didn't bump any birds which was awesome.
Definitely a hunt to remember with some great GoPro footage. Just have to put the video together.
