Sand Pines

oh goodness, I won't comment on how I did... lol...

There is a bunch of snow up there still. I'd say about 12-16 inches- in some of the drifts, probably around 18. Me being 5'6, I had quite the time trying to get through the snow, although, there are snowmobile trails, if you can try and stay on them while pushing the birds.

None of our birds seemed to stay anywhere in our field, and we only managed to see about 1/3 of what we had put out.

To be on the safe and smarter side than we did, I'd wait until we get more of a melting. And hopefully NO MORE SNOW!

Good luck :)

I was there Sunday. Although I'd been planning on waiting until we got a good melt I just found out we are going to 58 hour weeks at work. Also my bro in law is being sent to Minot and Bismark for a month so we squeezed a hunt in. Snow, snow and more snow. I saw fields one and four which had zero cover. We hunted field 5 which has corn and sorgum. It is a small field so I didn't hunt my experienced labs much instead working with my one year old GSP. We put out 12 (6 then another 6) We shot 14 and missed 3. Pretty sure Jerry was throwing out a few extra and they were all roosters as they are trying to get rid of them. I got some real solid points and I'm thrilled with her retrieving. She brought back 12 of the 14. Not impressive retrieves but still she brought them back. To me it didn't look like there was a lot of birds left in the pen but I could be wrong. I guessed maybe 500. For those of you that don't know Keith had heart surgery on a bad valve. He talked to us quite a bit and is getting better. Still hoping to get there one more time but it will have to be a Sunday because of freaking work.

Good luck
