Need to get out for a tune-up before SD trip.

Thinking either Sand Pines or Gold Meadows-whats your opinion?

Thnx

Dan

Sand Pines! Keith's birds fly hard and you always see as many as you pay for if not more. His cover is top shelf and he is a really down to earth guy. I just wish it was not so far away form me.

Sand pines. He put out 6 for me and I came home with 9. Saw many more. I shot 6 roosters and 3 hens. I had to unload my gun because the birds were all over and I didn't want to shoot too many!

I've always got more then they put out. Once put 12 out and shot 22. Put out two groups of 12 the last time and saw probably 40.

public lands will tune u up for SD for sure??? during the hunting season i dont get the game farm thing??? these guys know more about that game then me???

im taking my girl out this fri-sun in western MN to get her ready for my SD hunt tue-sat weather depending...

I haven't had a chance to get out on wild birds yet. Not heading to SDak until mid Nov, which is late for our group.

I figure what the heck and why not!

Tune up

I put money at Gold Meadows every year! I use it more to keep my dogs on birds and training. I'm going Sunday afternoon (again) and I leave tuesday for SD. It helps hunting the "farm", the dogs learn and you can teach them what you want from them. I put out between 8-10 birds everytime and see more than that. It just depends on who was in the fields before you!;)

I highly recommend the bird trade in at sandpines. There smoked pheasants are amazing. finally opened one and wanted my GF to try it.....we were both really impressed. I am hoping she will give me more gift certificates for sandpines! they also have pot pies and pheasant pepper sticks.

I am headed out this afternoon to a place called Glendorado. It is just west or Princeton on Hwy 95. It is really close for me and a great tune up on my equipment as well. Nice to make sure collars work, boots fit, my wife hasn't shrunk my vest:laugh:

Goldenboy - Let me know how glendorardo is. I live in Anoka area, I usually go to Sand Pines..great place but this Glendorado spot looks closer to me. If you could share your experience there it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Lone Rooster, I went up to Glendorado yesterday, we put out 8 birds and shot 11. He only charged us for the 8 birds! It is a great close place to go to shoot pheasants. He also has quail and chuckers. His price for pheasants is $16.50 per bird. The owners name is Rick. Tell him Joel sent you. Here is a link to their website. http://www.glendoradoshootingpreserve.com/ Call his cell number to reach him 612-210-6000

Thanks for the report back! I will plan a trip out there..thinking about doing a thanksgiving morning hunt.

Hunted Sand Pines Monday PM.

2 of us had a slow start and an amped up lab which hurt us in the thin cover. Took a break and then BAM guns were barkin, birds were fallin, dog hunting and retrieving well. A great afternoon.

Now onto the real thing in N and S Dak.
