Rooster spotted in NE KS!!!

kick them up

Well, I took the whole family to the farm sunday to camp / fish while I planted food plots on a couple of farms I get to hunt. We were setting up the tents when I heard the cackle of rooster. I turned around to see him flaring his wings down to land in the cattails behind the pond dam. I thought it was cool and left to go plant. While I was away the family saw him strutting on the pond dike crowing and such. Pretty cool experience for the family. Planted about an acre of plots before the rain last night:thumbsup:

Both camera's were in-op due to battery issues. Taking the youngest out next weekend to hunt deer for the youth early rifle season on the new farm. Pic's to come next week.:D

Kick'em Up!

That is good news. I actually saw a covey of quail in Tennessee Monday while dove hunting. Be back there in November.

You're "kickin' up" BS now:D Seriously though, I'm glad you saw one. I haven't seen any this summer.

I did see a covey of 12 quail while driving through a pasture here in the Flint Hills. Unfortunately, that's the first bunch I've seen in quite awhile. The farmer who owns the place said he's got 2 coveys on his 320 acres this year.

I was hearing quail almost everywhere this spring, now they are few and far between coveys, definitely a bad year for them.

KB, I even thought I had one too many Farmer Beers (Busch Light) :eek:when we saw that rooster, but the wife and kids confirmed it! Also had a covey of about 12 birds fly across the road on me about a mile from that rooster.:10sign: Maybe the dogs will get to chase some local birds this year. Just chasin no shotting them birds.:D

Here in Indiana over the weekend I didn't see A rooster....I saw "THE rooster"....I firmly believer there is only one in the state and there's 25,000 guys in oranger looking for it.......shhhhhhhhhh....don't tell anyone

Actually, I wouldn't tell anyone about seeing that rooster. You know how these guys are, they might try to go out there and do something to him. Just give me the grid coordinates and I can go out there on the opener to guard him. OK?
