Rochester area

If you intend to stay in MN, I would suggest SW MN area. Not familiar with Southern WI, but N. IA might be a choice. Reviewing the state DNR reports will help you decide on areas, whatever state you choose.

There is a number of public spots just East of Rochester. I hit a few spots a couple years ago killing time. Kicked up 8-10 and got two as I remember. If you have a PLOT map book look in the Dodge Center area.
 
My daughter and son-in-law live in Rochester. Rochester is a 2-hour drive from north central Iowa. There are many quality public hunting areas in NC Iowa. That is where I have been hunting when I visit in the fall.
