Report on our Annual DIY Trip

Location

GPowers

I completely agree with covering the ground to find birds. It's nothing for me to run 65-85 miles from the house to try new locations. I myself put on over 600 miles in four days of hunting. I have dogs suited and loaded before the sun comes up over the horizon.

We are generally in our area couple hours before start time to scout it out. I typically never spend two days in the same location back to back. With numbers being low I am utilizing this time to investigate new locations. This just gives me the diversity I need in tough years like this.

I am heading back out in ten days and can't wait. I would expect the hunting to be better than the first trip. Hopefully most of the crops are off the fields when we return. Even if the hunting isn't better I will enjoy my time. No work, phone, email, or traffic. Just family, dogs, and the scenery of SD for a week. Then there's the bonus of bagging a few roosters.
