Rain!

Moisture has returned to the prairie. We are approaching 3" of rain over the last 7-10 days. Pushed most out of the field for now. Overnight temps were between 35-40 degrees which is on the cool end. Should warm up soon and the bug production should be good for new broods hatching early June.

This weather system is huge stretching from Texas up to North Dakota.

Its still not as wet as last spring by any means and a lot of dugouts and sloughs needing some filling in to be useful through summer and fall.

This is the time of year when SD gets its moisture. 2 years ago I remember seeing a new brood the morning after a hard frost on May 20th.

We should have a good hatch.
