Quail hunt video from Sunday

Very nice! I feel bad because I've only had Obie out a couple times this year. Hoping to get him out later this week.

Thanks for loading that up in HD. Looks really good that way.

You bet. Takes hours to load it up but its worth it. Used Cyberlink Power Director 15 as the video editor. Thing has crazy features. I don't even know how to use them all yet but one is you can zoom in on a spot in the video which I want to see if I can try for my next one.

How were the county roads for your trip

I am getting ready to go out to NW KS (Oakley to Wakeeney) in a day or two. During your video, it looked cold enough that the roads were firm enough to get around. Can anyone tell me if you think the roads will be firm tomorrow (Thursday Dec 22) or the next day. I have winter tires, but not mud tires on my vehicle.
Loved the video, and always love to watch quail hunting. Appreciate you taking the time to film your trip.

Thanks,
Bruce

Awesome videos guys! For a beginner quail hunter, these help me learn the cover and expected dog work. Now if only i can get my dog on this many quail.

Thank you!! :10sign:

Just got back from that general area tonight and it's dry enough the roads should be fine after it warms up. If it rains on them in the upcoming few days you'll be driving on grease on top of the ice.

Thanks for the update

Thank you, very good information. I understand grease, only a tractor can handle that stuff.

I will watch the weather and if it rains, I will postpone until it gets cold again.

1 covey was found around hedge trees with buck brush under. Old ungrazed pasture.
1 covey was in cut milo feeding next to a hedge row.
3 coveys were around plum thickets/grass with corn or milo field nearby.

Awesome video....Thanks so much for sharing with us the great dog work and your fun. Quail and pheasant hunted KS about 15 years ago but stopped because of the drought. I have friends with land around Hill City, they don't hunt so they can never give me a straight answer on how the bird populations are doing. If anyone has any info on that part of the state they would like to pass on it would be appreciated. PM me if you would like and shoot straight.

We were well east of where you are going. Sunday it was super cold so everything was frozen.

Great video...

Your dogs are killin' the quail! There is just something special about quail hunting. I love pheasant hunting, grey partridge hunting anything upland, however, Quail hunting is where its at. Good stuff right there..
