I'll leave it to the Iowans, but it would be a surprise to me to find out Iowa released any birds in a state program. As far as I know, Iowa has not released birds for at least 40 years, probably longer. They did pass a law allowing private stocking by individuals and groups from Iowa approved sources, a pathetic band-aid for a massive loss of habitat and miserable weather problem. Looks like short of a preserve, you'll have to hunt the wily wild pheasants in there diminished numbers, that's also the good news because at least if successful you have a real hard earned prize, not some barnyard chicken.
