A proposal for increased hunting opportunities on nat'l wildlife refuges;

My habitat rep just sent this link to me. Haven't had time to read through the whole thing. Looks like there may be an opportunity to express our support for this proposal:confused:

If someone else can get through this and way in on it that would be great. Thank you!

I'm hitting the sack for the night;):cheers:

OK, read it.
I see mainly opening up big game hunting. White Tail Deer and feral hogs.
Deer and hogs are a problem in many cases and populations need to be controlled, makes good sense to let hunters do it.:thumbsup:

Some are for expanding waterfowl opportunities and some for increasing upland, probably not significant, because there's upland and waterfowl hunting now.

Turkey hunting has been added to some, turkeys are expanding there range most everywhere.

For hunters, sure! every opportunity is a good thing.:cheers:

Not so much interested in increased hunting opportunities as hunting on NWRs is an easy target for non-hunters so, any plus, likely is....dicey path tho.

Jezioro pushed and recommended, with near GPS precision, woodcock hunting on the Canaan NWR, tho it already was allowed...the problem with that is the hunter pressure it can bring to a fragile resource....much like magazine notice slammed northern NH a while back.
That is the often trade-off with widespread notice on some NWRs, it can establish a hunting precedent or continuing public hunting use of the refuge but.....it needs to be analyzed very individually.
Hopefully, the noted article is such.

If it is about deer, hogs or other trash game animals then there may be plusses for eliminating the damage they do to the refuge itself.

We need to reach a point where what is good for hunters needs to fall second to what is best for the gamebirds....they don't always track together.

Thanks for looking into it and your input guys. Sorry I didn't get a chance to do it myself.:)

Have a good night.
