Anyone heard any chicken numbers yet this year ? Am planning a hunt mid September in the Flint Hills
 
I would say the weather conditions have been favorable for a good hatch , I think the upland forecast comes out real close to the start of chicken season , let us know how you do .
 
Thanks KS will let you know Are you going to hunt chickens in KS? Have you ever hunted Ft Pierre National Grasslands in SD I hope to hunt it just before pheasant opener Hope the sharptails aren't too spooky then
 
Ya I am sure I will make it out and wear on some boot leather as long as it's not to hot for the dogs , if we can start in the low 50's and day time high in the 70's

I have not hunted the grasslands but have heard good things about them , I would check with the state to see how the drought has affected cover conditions and bird numbers .
