Got back from hunting 804. Alot of walking for a few flushes. Opening morning we may have flushed 2 chickens, but after that it was all sharpies. Ended up bagging 3 sharpies for the 3 of us in 2 days of hunting. Could have had more sharpies if our shooting was decent. The shorter the cover the better chances of kicking up some birds.
Dogs did ok for this being their first wild bird hunt, some birds bumped or wild flushes.
Only saw 1 other hunter. Not really sure why there is an 804 area as from what was told to us from the Glacier Ridge biologist, there are only a few (we found 2) prairie pieces on the refuge that had the suitable habitat. He also said the public pieces east of the refuge is too swampy or wooded which we found out was true.
Great experience and hunt otherwise!
