Poor man’s quail

Do you travel a ways to chase timberdoodles? In the cover we chase them, you need to remove one trigger and cut those barrels back a ways. When the flight is down, we kill way too many accidentally stepping on them and watch them cough up worms. Got bait? 😁

No, the woodcock are our only local attraction. We point the truck northwest in the fall to chase the mighty pheasant in the prairies. Woodcock keep me and the birddog sane until we can do it all over again. Shooting can be tight in some places but that’s what makes it fun. Lots of pine trees collecting lead in those areas.

Don't put it off to long Molli. I used to dream about wild Chuckers. Now I think I waited too long!

I hear ya. It's in my 5 year plan. Trying to let my girls get a little older so momma won't have so much on her plate. Chukars, huns, sharptails, they are all on the list. Hard to imagine liking anything more than a pheasant cackling though. Maybe its a good thing I haven't run up on those other birds just yet.
