Pigeons for training

Thought I would offer up my remaining pigeons from my flock, which is 7 birds to someone around here that may have a young pointing dog (or someone with an older dog). They are younger birds (couple years old). All are rollers but will home from a short distance. Never took them to far as my bird field is very close.

If you keep them in your coop for a month or so they will recognize it as home and return. Males and females among them so you could raise some too.

First person to respond they want them gets them. Birds only as I'm keeping the coop to stock with quail this summer.

North of Topeka 15 miles.

I just bought 15 pigeons to put in my coop. There are 4 young dogs of family and friends that will need worked this spring and summer.

The birds i got are not young birds, so you think a month is long enough to leave them in the coop, to get the to home to my coop?

I think you would be just fine especially if you stayed close with them for the first few times. I called on some homing pigeons before I got the rollers and the guy told me a couple weeks but these were younger birds, maybe less than a year old.

Last summer I had a Cooper's hawk raid my coop and about half of them flew off but were back 2 days later. But they had been here for a year when that hapoened. I was actually outside and saw them coming back from the west way up high.
