Pigeon capture

Look for some opinions on what guys find more effective for snagging pigeons. I've always used a net and got them on the roost at night with a flashlight. I know some guys live trap them but have heard of mixed result's, any advice or other methods is appreciated.

You can use a live trap. Put it up high like on the roof of a building that they are roosting on. Put some corn of feed in it but leave the bobs up. Let them get used to going in and eating, then drop the bobs a few days later after you have put more corn in. You may need to put some water in there as well if you cant check the trap often.

After you have caught some, leaving one pigeon inside the trap when you rest it will often help to draw move in.

Setter nailed it!

You need to get a Thunder 100 and mod it into a part time net gun. We'll make you the official tester:eek:. Let me know how it works.
:)

The best way I've found is to use a spotlight at the freeway underpasses after midnight. Tape a large fishing net to a pole and have at it. I've got as many as a dozen in one stop. Just be ready when the state patrol asks what's going on and never have a gun with.

'Cuz they don't allow guns at the psych ward, lol? That would be a sight to behold while travelling down a highway at night, for sure!

If you get a trap, check daily if at all possible. In my very limited experience, I had trouble with crows getting in and killing the pigeons before I could get to the trap. Flashlight and a net on the roost works well for me, but it's......not quite legal where I'm from, so highway underpasses are a bit risky for me! LOL I'm quick and sneaky though!

SetterNut is right on the trap. I used to work with a Springer trainer who used a lot of live pigeons. Let them have free run in and out of the trap for a couple of days, then let the gates down and they will get caught. His traps were divided in half with a holding pen on one end and once they realized they couldn't get out they would try the gate into the holding pen and couldn't eat up all your corn for bait.

Thanks for the advice guys, I am going to throw my coop together and have another trap on the way, I have some pigeon infested areas to try out, I hope to have some birds in there in the next couple weeks.
