Pheasants/Quail around Kinsley and Lewis

Hunted this area over the week-end. Both pheasant and quail numbers were very low compared to the previous 5-6 years. 6 guys and 6 dogs killed 16 pheasants and 0 quail in 3 days on private ground.

Were you hunting in food....were crops cut?

we hunted primarily field corners and cut milo fields. All crops were out, I will say that the cover was tremendously thick which probably made it tougher for the dogs.

Vagrousehunter, I will add that we did talk to some guys hunting WIHA and they said they found birds but they were so skittish they never got close. Good luck to ya!!

Thanks for the info. Skittish does not bother me. I expect that during late season.
