Pheasant Stamp!

Looks like Pa. will finally have a Pheasant Stamp, it's long overdue!

I will be curious to see how many stamps they sell the first year. I was also happy to see the Quail season was opened throughout the state and for a longer period of time. This fall will be an interesting time with the stamp needed and less birds being put compared to the past several years.

I think for the serious hunter the pheasant permit will have very little effect. If you remember a few years ago when the number of birds was cut in half, we still had great seasons, and that was with the same number of hunters. We will now have more birds then at that time and possibly less hunters.I'm looking forward to to many more great seasons. Last year was one of our best ever!

NJ has had one for quite a few years now and it works really well,Pa. has not been able to get it past legislation as a stamp despite overwhelming support from sportsman. A way around this was to create a "permit" for pheasant hunting. The permit will cost 25.00, and they are scheduled to release 175,000 birds, a bargain indeed.

Yep...it's never good when politics get involved!

They plan on releasing 175,000 to 180,000 birds!
