I have to say I think the birds did OK for the winter, I have been seeing plenty around and the mild spring and dry weather with out the storms should have made for a great 1st hatch around here. :thumbsup:
 
I tend to agree. We might not have the populations we've enjoyed the last several years, but I think it'll be better than what I was thinking back around New Years. I saw a lot of exposed, vulnerable birds throughout the winter, and the number of hens seemed to be dwindling. But, I've seen a fair number of broods around these parts, including a rooster chick that was getting his color already. I'll be curious to see how populations have fared in West Central Minny where they seemed to have had a more of a winter than here in Brown County.
 
Agree. Record cold in July is much different than record cold month in May or June. Temps remain above 50F most of the time. Drier weather helps too.
