Pheasant numbers up?

Sorry, I didn't see the other "survey" post.

I see the DNR survey numbers for this year indicate pheasants are up significantly.....but since the 2013 harvest was way way down, are the roadside survey numbers anything to really get excited about?

I personally have seen a more pheasants this fall on the one public and one private locations I hunt. Will know better after the youth season with the grandson.

Yes there's an increase but you need to consider the scale. In places where there was one rooster last year there will be two this year. Most of the state will still be marginal hunting, some pockets will have good numbers. It's been a few years since we had an increase in pheasant #'s. Hope we continue after all time low population.

Agreed

PheasantAddict is correct here!

I do not sell licenses but I know who does:p One cannot take the increases as sharp rises in numbers. Many areas very low or void of pheasants in Iowa. That would be a more honest statement for interested hunters.:)
