Pheasant loads

I love Fiochi (price efficient, not so much). I like Remington also. Have also used Estate #5 (I shoot a 12ga) from Cabela's. Those work just fine too when I point it right! A little cheaper than the others.

I've been using Remington Express Long-Range shells for years now. As I said in a previous post, I like the 1 1/4 oz shot  These shells are pretty hot, so take your time when making your shot, they'll reach out there just fine. :D

I used to use #5's, but I hunt in a lot of areas where the odds of jumping a covey of quail are high, so now I typically use #6. I've had no issues whatsoever dropping roosters even using the Express #7 or #7 1/2. Like I said, they're pretty hot...

Shadow, funny you say 7.5s. One year we hunted roosters opening weekend, came home(sek) hunted quail for a week then went back out west. Got back out west dad kept saying his shells didnt kick like he remembered. He was killing rooosters dead with his 20 so I didnt pay him any mind. Got back to the car and pulled a shell out of his vest. He forgot to switch shells and shot some roosters grave yard dead with 7/8 oz of 7.5s. Decided then maybe it is the shooter not the shell that makes it happen.

20 GA - what shells??

Now using a 20 ga due to shoulder surgery several years ago. I found that the gun patterned better with 7.5 - up to 20 yds very effective, but had some cripples.

Used 3" 6's in SD. Killed more birds but missed some close shots. #6 shell has about 50% less pellets that 7.5.

Go figure - not the shell, but the shooter!!

my father was a good shot- he liked 7.5's for everything- glad your father is sharp with a shotgun- myself- most is up close and personal

Nice picture Shadow. Looks like you could've used a tennis racket or a 9 iron on that one.

thanks- brother wanted to see if he could get a picture of my big guy pointing and the flush- turned arround- "could have got him with the bow"

brother is coming next year- he thinks I can
