Pheasant Killer storm coming

Good question and I do not know the answer. However I find birds in Blackberry thickets, wild rose thickets, cactus and similar thorny places. I suppose that when it comes to a choice between thorns and something that will eat them or shoot them, they take the thorns!

Pheasants do very well in thorny, hard on human tangles.
Wild plum is also very good bird cover and food. Choke Cherry and Buffalo Berry thickets are hard on humans and dogs but perfect pheasant and grouse cover.

I missed the post about the thorns, Yea, I can live without those. I already have those dang buffalo berry, I have been pulling some of those out with the truck. Mowing around them sucks. I will stick with the lilac and similar stuff. They are great cover and no thorns. Besides it's the cover thats most important. They can get food from so many sources. With the snow I guess sticking out some corn will help them out. We got around 10" and it never got as bad as they thought, so hopefully we are good here.
