I wasn't able to make it to this year's meeting. Our chapter habitat chair was able to make the meeting and he said it was one of the best he's been to. Prior to the meeting he went on a "field trip" to check out some of the local habitat work. Some of his notes to me:
The habitat tour in the morning was great. It was held at the Martinec farm on Penn's Creek. The owner of the property gave the tour and he was very knowledgeable about what was done They have done some execellent stream bank restoration work along with stream bank fencing . It was explained as to why and how the work was completed. They have been checking the stream for brown trout reproduction have had a large increase just in the past 2 years. They have also planted and area with warm season grass nearby. From the stream we went up on a hillside where a pollinator plot was been planted. Even though it was late August it was very colorful and there was a large amount of different butterflies using the flowers .
One of the highlight of the meeting was when Emma S. from Taneytown MD spoke .She is 14 years old and talked about what she does as part of the PF National Youth Leadership Council.
He was also able to make some contacts with other chapter leaders which may lead to some partnerships on future projects.
