Royal great lefty and radio/TV color man succumbed today from throat cancer. He was the among the vanguard of really good Royal players, and remade himself as a TV broadcaster, who did Big 12 Basketball, as well as Royal Network TV. He was 64, pitched the first Royal game in history, when he pitched a minor league affiliate game to open the season, the year before the Royals began play. An all round great guy, and Royals all time win leader, with 166 wins, ( one more than Sandy Koufax, puts him in good company). Known as a Yankee killer in his prime and never gave up a home run in Fenway Park. Rest in Peace
