Overnight hunting ventures

This is going to work out very nicely. The money you save on the motel can be used to cover "part" of the cost for a visit to the doctor's office and prescriptions to get back on your feet again. Good luck.

jesus, you guys kill me.... I'd say go for it! slept out in worse conditions. Get a good sleeping bag and you will be fine!

I mean I was a damn jarhead so I didn't really have a choice but to sleep in worse conditions, but you all makeit sound like he is gonna die if he does this! ha Saving $75 bucks, sounds like a good deal to me!

About the only thing that you may have to worry about is kids messing around or the local law getting a report of an abandoned or suspicious vehicle. It's going to be cold so if you do camp out stay warm, good luck!!

Yep, the biggest problems should just be people stopping to see if you need help and the lack of a toilet.

I've slept in the back of my suburban at times. The floor will get very cold. I used one of the low profile cots we used for camping, but put a thin foam pad on the cot for insulation. With a good sleeping bag you are good for any temperature.

Good luck!

if a guy needs to save a measly 75 dollars might want to try backgammon at home thats one bet of blackjack at the boat for me! talk about a big deal NOT

overnight stay

Why am I getting all of these posts. I wouldn't think of staying overnight in my jeep to save $$$. Holiday Inn Express for me.

I'm a die hard pheasant hunter, but I wouldn't be sleeping in the truck.. especially the way the temps have been lately. I need a good bed to recoup from a hard days hunt, especially if i"m going to do it again the next day. But to each his own!

It shouldn't be a problem to park along the road as long as there aren't any no parking signs, which in my experience I have never seen on a dirt road in western kansas.

On a seperate note I like the idea of sleeping in the truck, adds to the adventure. It won't be comfortable, but you won't die either.

Geezzz where is everyones spirit of adventure?! I used to sleep under the truck topper all the time in the winter. (Because of the wife I now do it in comfort with a slide in camper :) ) Surround yourself with a few dogs and you would be surprised how warm you stay. If you are really worried about getting cold do what others have suggested and buy yourself a tent safe propane heater. http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200362083_200362083
Then you can sleep in the suburban anytime you want and Im sure you will find other uses for the heater. For me I would rather be in the back of my truck roughin it with the dogs than in some motel any day! Winter camping is great!

Go for it! Winter camping/car camping is great. I am paranoid about propane heaters in enclosed spaces and would opt for more blankets. Might go for a cheap motel for one night to just shower up.

Many times I have been in a hotel, some very nice, and get tired of all the noise; someone coming in around 2am drunk and rowdy, stairs/elevators, the couple next door, the jackass above and of course those damn dogs that bark all night long in the back of a dog box.
