So I bought a pair of these this year.

Overall a great boot. It fits well and after wearing them all season (30-40 days)they so no signs of wear.

They are a heavier boot being made of bull leather. The traction of the upland sole left a little to be desired in snow. I was going to get them re-soled to something more aggressive. Then I saw these

I called Orvis and said I wore boots this season and they lacked traction so I wanted to return them, Orvis has a anytime, any reason money back guarantee. They said we will send you a return label, send them back and we will give you a full refund. Seems they stand by their guarantee.

I would definitely buy the bull leather boots if it was not for the more aggressive sole on the cordura version. If you do not hunt in a lot of snow they would make great boots.

Good info. Thanks.

I removed my post. It was jacking and that is not nice, so I'll re post

Hi, first time poster here.

I have been considering the Orvis Wetlanders or the Orvis Kangaroo boots (http://www.orvis.com/store/product.aspx?pf_id=3C63) - I want something light, but they must have really good traction.

What confuses me about your post is that the Wetlander boots that you first bought and link to seem to have a more aggressive sole than the Cordura Wetlander boots that you ended up with, or the Kangaroo boots that I linked to. In fact, I emailed Orvis, and customer service responded by telling me that for hunting in snow and/or muddy conditions, the Wetlanders with the bullhide leather would be better than the Kangaroo Upland boots. I know that the older style Wetlanders had a tread similar to those now on the Kangaroo Upland boots.

So, what kind of tread did you end up with, and if have you used them in more slick conditions (snow/ice, muddy, etc.), how was the traction?

Thanks for any information you can provide.
